I will support Modi. Why?

Yes. I know there is an overhauling increase in the number of ridicules for his foreign trip. "There are far more pressing problems in India", some say shamelessly. But if there is another poll, I will again vote for Mr. Modi.

I do not know much about politics. Damn, I do not know anything. I am shamefully ignorant and fail to grasp certain  economic things even if I watch numerous news channels and read newspapers. But, I will vote for Mr.Modi because he gave hope which itself seemed like a dream for India.

When was India out of problems? With a country having a massive diversity in religion, language, culture, right from dance to food, it is indeed a huge feat to uphold secularism and provide hope for all of them. One religion feels left out if the other religion gets benefit, one state feels left out if other state gets a benefit. Everyone wants the same things yet more.

I would like to point certain things that I like in Mr.Modi. He, unlike "certain" other politicians, seems to be transparent about his foreign trips. I don't think anyone doing a mistake, does it so publicly, in front of 30 million eagle eyes. So yes, I do not think he visits other nations just for the sake of it. Then, there is this whole scandal about porn sites banned. I fail to grasp the reason behind such an overpowering outcry. Shouldn't people be a little embarrassed to admit that they watch porn videos involving children. Why, no. They talk about banning corruption, child abuse, rape, etc. I mean, why ban something that is already illegal?

Then there is this ban on beef meat. I am appalled at the hypocrisy. Cow is a holy animal for Hindus. I would love to see how others react if we tarnish their holy image! Again, these people crop up talking about freedom.

These are just a few things that were blown out of proportion. I am not even going to go into celebrities returning their awards.

While we are looking at the "awful" things in his government, let's point some softer lights towards his "better" things. He started a movement called Swatch Barath. Some went to lengths in telling he started it but did nothing after that. Well, if you are waiting for him to come and clean your streets, fat chance! Blah, blah, similarly to "Make in India".

What did I do? Nothing. I too lament about people who lament. Indian blood runs deep and full in me. But I do not ridicule people who do something.
So I will vote for Modi because there seems no other hope for us than a person standing up against criticism and doing what he does, with style.

My plan to unplan...

Seventh semester in all engineer's life is a crucial moment, they say. There is this extreme and unbearable pressure from peers, parents, unknown, yet always there to give advice, relatives, friends who are waiting to get treat and all those we meet along the sidewalks, corridors, washrooms, buses, hostel floors, basically everyone in town. Everyone is interested in your future plans, most of them aren't even going to be a part of it.

So, how do we tackle this stress and enjoy the last, probably not for some, years of student life?

So, when I was wondering the same thing on my bus ride couple of days back, I had this weird thought. "What am I going to do with my life?". "How do I see myself in the next 5 years". The thought was immediately followed by,  "Why do I need to plan the next 5 years of my life?". Things never happen the way we want it to happen. I aimed for medicine but ended up in SSN. Many aimed for so many other things but ended up doing something completely different. I decided planning does nothing to change the fate. Hard work does, but the amount of work to put in is mountainous.

So I came up with this thought of planning to unplan. I tried to remember all the things that I wanted to do in life. Imagined myself in all those fields, nothing seemed perfect, nothing seemed achievable, everything was blur and dreamlike. Confused and perplexed like the usual me, I wanted to forget everything. So I made it up a point to forego all plans. No plans, anymore. Short-term goals, fine. But no long term goals. Baby steps at a time. That too seems scary when people around you talk about companies and masters and entrepreneurship and jobs and marriage! But, be determined to not get sucked into this vicious cycle of false promises of future. We all know nothing is concrete. Change is the only constant thing, yet we plan and get disappointed. We constantly try to fit in. Give it up and let it go.

Don't let your life become a series of usual questions like:

"Baby born?"

"Is it walking?"

"Which school?"

"Learning arts and craft?"

"What your 10th result?"

"What's your 12th result?"

"Which college?"

"Which company?"

"Which country?"

"When is your marriage?"

"Daughter or son?"

"When is your retirement?"

"What disease, now?"

"Is he/she dead?"

And a few articles in the newspaper. And the end. Is this what life is all about?

Celebrity, oh-not-so glam life!

Let me start this post by saying, I am an obsessive drama-movie freak! By which I mean, rather than just watching the drama I also watch the NGs, interviews, and also the leads Wikipedia profile. So, basically, the addiction level : cannabis!
Once you divulge into the drama it takes at least a week to recover from the hangover. By which time all of us are thorough with the leads background, current activity and their relationship (between each other and also with others). Most of the time, all these background information's fuel on to the already flaming infatuation. One good thing about these obsessions is that it doesn't stagnate on a single person/drama. It fluctuates depending on new dramas we watch.
There is also a time in a drama-freaks life where he/she wishes to be a part of the 'group' in the drama. We imagine millions of instances where we are part of the 'cult' and our own roles and dialogues(please tell some of you are like that, or I am starting to sound like a crazy person ).
But, most of us don't know the hardships that celebrities face (Celebrities in this post refer actors only). I am not a celebrity, not even near one. I am not popular in my college, Hardly, 10 people apart from my classmates know me. But it seems frightening when I imagine people tracking my every move, commenting about it, giving their owns views, talking about me in forums, social-networking sites, and what-not. Well, obviously, celebrities are aware of the consequences well in advance. However, sometimes things get out of hand.
For example, in our country, celebrities hold a rather large influence among people. Hence people start expecting him/her to do all good deeds and make this nation a 'better place to live'. For the record, this must be done by the politicians. Celebrities, like the general crowd, do a job for which they get paid. Yeah, they do have loads of money but they face their own problems which we usually think isn't significant. Celebrities have their own personal life, which we have no right to divulge or comment upon.
Judging based on rumors is never the best judgement. It is ridiculous when people don't realize that media, which shapes a country's economy and ethnicity, is publishing such useless piece of crap about some celebrity when there are more pressing issues to address. When the strong pillar, media themselves don't give a damn, why expect a celebrity to magically solve issues. I m pretty sure people are educated enough to understand that actors can't reciprocate everything they do on screen.
So, starting from myself, let's understand that everyone have their own life. Just because they are under the limelight their life doesn't belong to us nor is it open for criticism. Let's neither worship nor dishonor. Let's give each other due respect and personal space.

Korean hangover- part 1

Hi there!
So I am back again with something new this time. No brooding life instances or emotional stuff. This time it is about my latest expenditure into the Korean drama world.

So, as of now, I have watched 6 Korean dramas. All of them have left me with hangovers that has lasted for at least a week. And, what's more is that, I am still madly in love with Korean songs. Though I don't understand the lyrics, but come on, the beat is catchy!

Here goes the list of dramas I have watched (re-watched, a few episodes) and my opinion about them.

1)Boys over flowers (hangover:- 2 months and counting......):
This was my first step into the Korean world. After persistent nagging by a friend, I agreed to try this drama. At first I wasn't much sure about Korean dramas or anything related to south east Asia. I was too deep into the western world. But i decided to give it a try. BAM! I watched the first episode and there was no looking back. Boys over flowers is by far the best drama I have ever watched. It had me hooked till the very end. I couldn't believe it ended, it was depressing. I finished watching this 25- episodes, 1 hour each episode drama in 1 week. The handsome F4 guys make me drool even now. Gu Jun Pyo (woah!*_*), Ji Hoo , Woo Bin and Yi Jeong glued me to the screen. The heroine, Geum Jan Di had a wonderful, perky character that gave the initial attraction to the drama. The story is basically a modern Cinderella story where a poor girl and a rich boy fall in love. But this drama had an extra spice by having more than one rich handsome boy. It had four, the F4. All the actors portrayed their character too well that it was unbelievable to see them as their original self. The oomph factor in this drama is its Original Sound track (OST). Though there was repetition, (a lot) there is no denying the fact that it gave the drama the needed boost and enthusiasm. In case you haven't watched this drama, start it as soon as possible. You wouldn't regret it. You can thank me later.

2) Heirs (hangover:- 3 days):

This was my second Korean Drama. After watching Boys over Flowers, I was head over heels in love with Lee min ho aka Gu Jun Pyo. So I searched for the next most watched Lee min ho series and my fellow netizen Korean fanatics suggested this series claiming it to have caused a hallayu (that's how Koreans call 'a big hit'). My initial reaction to the drama was ' I asked for the handsome Gu jun pyo, and who is this, not-so-attractive Kim Tan?!'.  Well, that was my initial reaction. But as I watched a few more episodes the story had me cling on to it rather than the characters. The actors did a pretty decent job but it had the same poor girl loves rich boy story. However, the main plot was not just romance, it had the nail-biting stock market, rich people's dirt stories that gave a solid reason to not stop the series half-way. The story had a few unfinished tales since it had too many inner stories that wasn't fathomable. Background music was decent ,but not so good. The 20-episode story depicted a real-life scenario rather than Disney-like happy ending that pleased me more than it should [ ;) ]. I wouldn't suggest this to someone who haven't watched any Korean dramas before 'cause the first few episodes  would surely put them off for all Korean dramas.

3) Personal Taste (hangover:- series -( 2 weeks), Lee min ho-( years to come)):

Lee Min ho! The one word that describes this whole drama for me. I mean look at him! What more do you need in a drama rather than watching this handsome guy for 16 episodes in all possible angles (no vulgarity intended). But, that's not all in this drama. The story line was bold and cute. Though the heroine was a dirty, stinky girl, she had a charisma that somehow made her unkemptness endearing. The story was not the usual Korean poor girl, rich boy love. It was based on how the heroine mistakes the hero's sexuality ( I would take him anyway!) but eventually falls in love with him despite it. It had the required cuteness and maturity in appropriate proportions. Supporting actors had their own charm and beauty that gave the drama an added advantage. So, if you are feeling rather blue or bored, you can start watching this series and you would find yourself falling for it (him).

4) City Hunter (hangover: - (3 weeks)):

If you are thoroughly burned out watching romance and desperately yearning for some action in life, this is the series I would recommend for you. But, beware the hangover is life-threatening (just kidding).  For a romance-over thriller anytime-kind of-person, city hunter was a difficult choice. But I conveniently had to take off few days off college after I started this series. So I finished this 20-episode series in 4 days (my personal best). This story is based on a bitter father who trains his kindhearted son to avenge the death of his colleagues who had died on a government secret mission, due to corruption. The hero has done an appreciable performance with beautifully choreographed stunts. The romance was kept to a bare minimum and it dint quite hit me that hard( barely scratched me). Probably the on-screen romance sulked due to the off-screen romance between the leads. Every scene kept my nerve-endings sparked. The main reason for loving the series apart from the story line and the background score, is the heroine's character. Rather than being sickeningly feminine and shy, the heroine's character was that of a strong lead lady capable of even saving the hero's neck at times(literally).  This is the only Korean drama I would confidently recommend any guy.

5) Playful Kiss (hangover:- 2 weeks but still not over it(him) completely):
Cuteness overload. As the name suggests, this drama was indeed playful and extremely adorable. I watched this series along with a friend and we discussed it every day which made the obsession inevitable. The story is based on a teenage girl Oh Ha Ni having a life-altering crush on the handsome( Oh my!), smart and popular guy of high school, Baek Seung Jo. Though the hero hardly reciprocates the heroine's love, it was rather fun watching her try very hard for him and miserably failing to make any progress most of the time. The heroine's perseverance and dedication eventually catches on to the hero and he involuntarily falls for her. Baek Seung jo aka Boys over flowers's Ji hoo looks his best in the series and I would judge any girl's femininity if she says she wasn't captivated by his smile at least once in the series. This wouldn't be justified if I failed to mention the hero's mother. The ideal mother, who was pretty and extremely joyful, kept pushing his son onto the heroine till he gave up. At last, the 16+1 episode drama is worth watching for the swooning worth Kim Hyun Joong. Patiently sit for first 10 episodes because the upcoming episodes are totally worth it.

6) Coffee Prince (hangover:- 2 days):
This is my recent Korean drama. I finished it just 3 days back. Though it dint create a noticeable hangover, it made a pleasant watch. This story had the poor girl, rich boy love but it wasn't just that. The poor girl, for most part of the drama, was a guy. Han Kyul, an arrogant but tender rich boy comes to Korea from New York due to his grandmother's whims. When his grandmother and parents force him to go on blind dates to find a lovely bride he comes across the heroine, Eun Chan, whom he mistakes for a guy. He, then offers her a job to act like his gay lover, which she accepts due to certain circumstances. They become closer day-by-day and she also urges him to recreate a pathetically maintained coffee shop. The hero falls for her, despite his internal turmoil, without knowing the heroine's true gender but eventually comes to know about it. The other protagonists are the lovely Yoo Jo and sweet Han Sung who have their own moments and heart-warming romance. The good looking coffee prince's have their own charm that is not overdone. The drama, though dint affect me romantically, is worth watching for the hats-off performance by the cast.

So,here comes the end of my list. Each of these Korean dramas have left me dreaming different unreasonable yet comforting scenarios. Even though these Korean dramas have taken a major toll on my English, it was totally worth it. If you haven't watched Korean dramas then you are definitely leaving the teenage without experiencing certain emotions. So start watching at least 2 of these or any other Korean drama. Better late than never. FIGHTING!

TO THE FIRST BOY

Sweetest,caring and cranky (:P)
You are one troublesome monkey.

Smart and  handsome, you are the man,
You'll reach heights, I know you can.

You do talk a lot of philosophy and psychology,
And damn, you are a great company.

You seem very strong at start,
but you are very kind at heart.

Next time you see me, you'll call me crazy,
And you'll lie that this poem is cheesy.

But i know you better.

You'll be wearing the stupidest grin while you read this,
With your usual blush like after mom's kiss.

You are going to deny that sure,
but remember I know you more.

To the crazy-ass-best-friend-brother,
A Very happy birthday.

To the unconditional love you provide,
forever in-debt wont suffice.

PS:- Nothing rhymes, I know :')

Why follow your dreams?

All of us dream to become something in life right from our childhood. You are asked to tell about your ambition right from primary. The first thing any stranger 'uncle' or 'aunty' asks is 'What are you going to do in life?'.( Well, our mind goes, 'Trust me, IF only I knew!'). Same thing happened to me today.

So this strange uncle came to my house while I was lisenting to music. HAPPY WEEKEND!!!
Uncle: What are you doing, dear?
Me: Engineering, uncle.
Uncle: Oh nice. ( but he sounded like 'cliche!'). Then, where are you going to do MS?
Me: No plans as of now. But I might study 'English Literature'.
Uncle: Oh! ( His face said 'That's not what people in India do!')
Then he started talking about some random person's son's brother-in-law's cousin do Phd in some xyz college in some abc country. Well there went 30 minutes of my weekend thoroughly wasted.

SO, What the hell is it that i am planning to do? (That question always triggers the 'Brooding mode' on!)

Anyways, In my case, when I was 5 years old, I wanted to be a model (I could hear my mom's mind whizzing fast to shoot the cons of the profession). When I was 12, I wanted to be a dancer ( I still secretly wish). When i was 15, I wanted to be a doctor( Indian instincts kicking in). Some where in the middle I even wanted to be a tennis player. Right now, I am doing Engineering ( a full fledged typical Indian, yay ! :/ ). Shockingly, this is not an unique case. Plenty of Indians face the same scenario. I just described a mediocre Indian's life.

When you are young, you see plenty of people. So many inspire you. You wish to grow up to be like them.
You try to research about them, learn about their job, dream yourself in that place. Your future seems promising, happy and you can't wait to live there. That instant when you dream, your heart swells, happiness floods your veins, everything seems achievable and wonderful. LIFE IS GREAT.

So, how many of you lead that life now? How many of you are in that place where you wanted to be 10 years back (say). I do wish some of you are, otherwise, it is just depressing. For all those people who aren't there yet (just like me) , let me share the insight i just had a few moments ago. I hope it is life changing.

Most of us do not know what we need in life. We feel this is what we were destined to do. We follow it because someone did it and became successful. How to know if you are in the right place or not?
Let me help you there.
Right now, I am writing this blog. But silently my mind is pushing me to just save this useless shit which no one is gonna bother to read fully and carry on with my lab assignments. But I know, I don't want to do my lab work. I love my college (not 'The University', definetely not 'The University'). I love computer science. But I also know that is just not me. I may get marks but that's not what I want. I go to college every weekday, sometimes even weekends but I go just for the sake of it. I would gladly quit it given a chance. My future seems bleak, frightening.

And, that's how I decided. This is just not for me.

Every youngster goes through a phase after schooling where thousands of random people share their life stories and force you to do something they do or wanted to do. That is because of two reasons. One, they don't want to be doing it alone and secretly hope to see you fall into the same deep shit. Second, that's not their freaking life to ponder over. Some of them may even be successful in what they do. But beware, it may not be you.

Some may ask 'Why follow your dreams when you can be rich doing what you do?'. Trust me, I asked the same once and I even try to justify that sometimes. The answer is quite simple and obvious, your job defines who you are. It is you. Your character, attitude, personality revolves around what you do. You love what you do, your whole life blooms. Everything has a purpose again. Everyone seems nice and kind. Every morning is new and full of joy. Look around and you can see  people who are rude, angry, lonely and always depressed, they are those who live a life that they don't love.

A wise woman once said ( yeah, that's me ) : No one can define your success. If you are doing what you love, you are already successful.

So kick your ass if you aren't doing what you want to do because it's your fault. Grab the opportunity and start leading your life the way you want. Follow your dreams because remember that is what defines you even after your death.

Don't let idiots ruin your day.

HUMAN. This word just doesn't describe homo sapiens, it means much more than that. It also describes an individual with feelings and uniqueness. Yeah, basically it describes you (unless its an animal reading this blog!), me and others around you. Everyone has their own mood swings. Some day you are very chirpy and bright, other days a bit tired and killjoy and few other days you might be bored to the point of depression. But, most of the days you wake up happy and go back to bed feeling morose.
Trust me, there is nothing wrong with you. Its the idiots around you, who wake up each morning with the hope to ruin someone's day.

Contemporary world is extremely competitive. People just don't compete for job and money anymore. They compete for petty things and stuff. Not all of them are saints to carry your well-being at heart. They try you, seduce you, make you fall until you break down.  They try to suck happiness out of you like dementors (I know this is pretty strong, but you know, its a slap on the face truth). Civilization has not only brought development and broad-mindedness among people but has also made them smart and cunning.
You may wonder what joy it is to see someone suffer? I guess its not just joy but the pure pleasure of it.

So, what are the ways by which idiots try to kneel you down? And how to find them?
 1) They let you into their life and slowly overpower you.

 2) They make you feel inferior by not letting you do things your way by feeding pessimistic idea into your mind.

3)They turn you up against people unnecessarily so you constantly worry about it rather than minding your own work.

4) They would make everything about themselves and never give a chance to exhibit yourself.

5) They constantly try to steal lime light by pushing you down and doing it 'sweetly'.

6) They always sweet talk to you and keep complimenting you about useless things. (A well-wisher never sweet-talks!)

7) They make you feel unwanted, sad and useless.

All of us have got idiots in our life. So, how to get past them?

If you find one of this kind, sack the bonds you have with them immediately. Either physically ignore them or tell the truth to their face. Never sugarcoat the truth, its time to clear the air. There is no point being nice in this barbaric world. You'll realize that, once you get past them, you will find yourself much happier and relaxed.

But its never just one, is it? There are millions out their plotting mysterious ways to ruin your day. We cannot go to every idiot and tell them, can we? Hence, the best way is to ignore them. At the end of the day it is you who is going to live with you. It is you who is going to suffer your fears and failures. It is you who is going to go out there the next day to put on a brave face. Idiots try to steal the love out of you but remember you have got people who love you and deserve your love.

So pull yourself up to fight these idiots. Wear your smile that you own and face them. Nothing freaks them like seeing you happy. And always bear in mind 'Never let idiots ruin your life'.
